Renewing Strength with El Shaddai: The God Who Empowers the Weary

He Gives Strength to the Weary

When life leaves us drained, Isaiah 40:29–31 offers the reminder we need:

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak... those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.”

The name El Shaddai — The All-Sufficient One — assures us that God never runs out of strength, compassion, or power. When we grow weary, He renews. When we falter, He lifts.

Resting in His Sufficiency

God doesn’t call us to push harder in our own effort; He calls us to rest deeper in His sufficiency. El Shaddai’s strength flows through surrendered hearts.

As Kay Arthur writes, our limitations become the backdrop where God’s power is displayed most beautifully.

Journaling Prompt: Turning Weakness into Worship

Spend a few moments reflecting on Isaiah 40:29–31.

  • Write a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to El Shaddai — not only for what He has given, but for who He is.

  • Use your lettering to illustrate words like strength, renewal, and hope.

  • If you’re feeling weary, turn that page into a personal prayer: “Lord, I praise You for being El Shaddai — my source of strength when I have none.”

Remember: we don’t have to muster strength. We simply receive it from the One who has it all. When we lean on El Shaddai, our exhaustion becomes His opportunity. He fills our emptiness with His endless strength.
