Lettering Scripture & Trusting the Lord: Isaiah 50:10

Lettering Scripture & Trusting the Lord: Isaiah 50:10

"Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of His Servant? Let him who walks in darkness and has no light trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God" — Isaiah 50:10

As you meditate on this verse, spend time lettering the words in a way that draws your attention to the heart of the message.

This week's technique:

  • Practice nesting words — letting the letters and phrases fit together like a puzzle to create a pleasing, intentional design.
  • Put emphasis on "trust", "rely, and "God" so they stand out as anchors in your piece. These are the words to let your hand linger on as you write, allowing the truth to soak in.

When you're finished, you'll not only have a beautiful piece of art — you'll also have a visual reminder of the call to place your confidence in the Lord.

Two Path Described in Isaiah 50:10-11

The Believer's Bible Commentary points out something powerful in these two verses:

  • Verse 10 describes those who walk in dependence on God - trusting and relying on His name, even in times of darkness.
  • Verse 11 warns about those who try to create their own light and guidance - relying on themselves instead of seeking God's direction.

Both types of people face darkness, but their responses are completely different.

One turns toward God.

The other turns away.

Journaling Prompt

Take some time with your bible, your journal, and this verse. Ask the Lord to show you where your trust is resting.

Prompt:

The path you walk may be dark indeed...

How do you need to walk in dependence on the Lord?

Confess your need for guidance with ________.

Trust in the name of the Lord.

Rely upon Him.

Remember the "BUT God" - He will illuminate your path.

Creative Faith in Action

This week, as you letter Isaiah 50:10, let your hand slow down when you write, trust, rely, and God. Say them aloud if you can. Let the words become more than ink on paper - let them be a declaration of where your heart is choosing to rest.

Whether your current season feels like bright daylight or deep night, remember:

God's light will always be enough to guide you when you trust and rely on Him.
