HIS Perfect Peace

HIS Perfect Peace

Not Man-Made Peace, but HIS Perfect Peace

There are moments when we long for peace—peace from the noise, peace from the busyness, peace from the storms of life. The world offers a man-made version of peace, but it never lasts. True and lasting peace is found only in Him.

“The tree of peace strikes its roots into the crevices of the Rock of Ages.” — D.L. Moody

What a picture that paints! Perfect peace comes only from leaning hard on Jehovah, our everlasting strength.

The Believer’s Bible Commentary notes that it was during a violent thunderstorm, while seeking shelter in a rocky cleft, that Augustus Toplady wrote the words to the beloved hymn Rock of Ages. Out of the storm, he found not just physical shelter, but also the reminder of spiritual shelter in Christ.

Journaling Prompt

How can you illustrate this in your own journal?

  • Try writing a prayer back to the Lord, thanking Him for being your Rock of Ages and your source of peace.

  • Use simple index cards to jot down your prayers—layer them with background papers, colorful markers, or other bits from your stash.

  • Or, take a verse on peace and letter it creatively, adding imagery of rocks, clefts, or trees with deep roots.

Praying Scripture back to the Lord has been such a powerful practice for me. Whether it’s a short prayer scribbled on an index card or a full-page entry in my journal, it helps God’s Word move from my head to my heart. It builds a habit of living in an atmosphere of prayer.

And I’m so thankful for the gift of creativity that makes it not only meaningful—but beautiful. ❤️
