When Jesus Says “Follow Me”
There’s something powerful about the moment Jesus simply says, “Follow Me.”
Not when everything is figured out.
Not when the path is clear.
Not when we feel ready.
Just… follow.
When Peter and the others were called in Luke 5, they left their nets immediately. Their livelihood. Their security. Their plans. They didn’t have a roadmap — only a relationship. And that was enough.
Following Jesus has always required surrender.
He doesn’t ask for perfection.
He asks for trust.

Christ. Messiah. Lord.
To call Him Christ is to acknowledge Him as the Anointed One — the promised Savior.
To call Him Messiah is to recognize He is the One sent to redeem and restore.
To call Him Lord is to surrender authority — to place our lives fully under His leadership.
And that’s where it gets personal.
Because if He is Lord…
Then we are not.
✨ Reflect
What might Jesus be asking you to lay down as you follow Him more closely?
Is it fear?
Control?
A timeline you’ve clung to?
A calling you’ve been hesitant to embrace?
Sometimes the “nets” we’re holding are comfortable. Familiar. Safe.
But safe and surrendered are not always the same thing.
Jesus said in Matthew 16:24 that following Him means taking up our cross. That doesn’t sound glamorous — but it is deeply purposeful. The cross is not just a symbol of sacrifice. It is a symbol of trust.
And the anchor?
It reminds us that obedience doesn’t mean drifting. It means being secured in Him, even when the waters feel uncertain.

🙏 Pray
Jesus, You are my Lord and my Savior.
Give me courage to trust You with my life and my calling.
Help me lay down what is not from You and follow You fully.
Anchor my heart in truth when the path feels unknown.
🌿 Respond
Where might Jesus be calling you to trust Him more fully — even when you cannot see the outcome?
What is one small step of obedience you can take today?
Maybe it’s reaching out.
Maybe it’s starting something.
Maybe it’s letting something go.
Obedience often begins quietly. But its impact echoes loudly.
Surrender. Obedience. Calling.
Let these words shape your heart as you follow Him.
“Let this verse guide your heart as you follow Him.”
