Finding Strength in Weakness

Finding Strength in Weakness

My Grace Is Sufficient for You

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul shares God’s powerful words:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”

This verse beautifully mirrors the name El ShaddaiThe All-Sufficient One. When Paul admitted his weakness, he discovered something greater: God’s strength is most visible when ours runs out.

Kay Arthur connects this moment to El Shaddai, reminding us that we don’t have to be enough — because He is.

Learning to Lean on God’s Sufficiency

El Shaddai isn’t a distant or detached God. He is the God who meets us in our insufficiency and fills the empty spaces with His strength.

To trust El Shaddai means letting go — of control, expectations, and even our need to understand. It’s choosing to believe that His grace truly is enough, even when we can’t see how.

Journaling Prompt: Offering Weakness as Worship

  • Create a page in your journal and title it My Insufficiencies.

  • List the areas where you feel weak, weary, or unqualified.

  • Beside each one, draw an arrow and write a truth about God’s strength in that area.

Or, try using index cards — one card for each weakness — and tuck them into an envelope. On the front of the envelope, letter El Shaddai — All-Sufficient. Each time you add a new card, remind yourself: He is enough for this, too.

There’s such freedom in admitting weakness — because that’s where El Shaddai’s power flows most freely.

When you feel like you’re falling short, remember this truth: God never asked you to be sufficient — He simply asked you to trust the One who is.
