A Different Kind of New Year: Why I’m Starting This Year with Scripture, Not Pressure

Every January, we’re surrounded by messages telling us to do more, plan better, and fix what feels broken.

But this year, I’m choosing something different.

Instead of starting the year with pressure, I’m beginning with scripture, reflection, and creativity—and inviting other women to do the same through a workshop called FOLLOW HIM.

Why Scripture Comes First

Before goals… before plans… before resolutions…
Jesus invites us simply to follow Him.

When scripture becomes our starting point, everything else begins to fall into place. That’s why FOLLOW HIM is a scripture-centered creative kickoff, not a productivity challenge or planner workshop.

We begin the year by:

• Opening our Bibles

• Reflecting on the words of Jesus

• Creating space to listen instead of rush

Creativity becomes a way to slow down and engage with God’s Word—not another thing to check off a list.

Why Creativity Matters in Our Faith

For many women, creativity is where their hearts finally slow enough to hear God.

In FOLLOW HIM, we use:

• Scripture journaling

• Mixed media art

• Simple, meaningful creative techniques

Not to make “pretty pages,” but to create room for reflection, prayer, and worship.

You don’t need to be an artist.
You just need a willing heart and a few basic supplies.

What FOLLOW HIM Is (and Isn’t)

FOLLOW HIM is:
✔ A gentle way to begin the year

✔ Rooted in mixed media art and journaling
✔ Encouraging and community-driven

FOLLOW HIM is not:
✖ A goal-setting challenge
✖ A productivity workshop
✖ A fast-paced or overwhelming experience

Instead, it’s an invitation—to slow down, reflect, and begin again with Jesus at the center.

What You’ll Experience in the Workshop

During FOLLOW HIM, you’ll:

• Begin a scripture-centered journal focused on the January Name of Jesus

• Explore red-letter verses—the words spoken by Jesus

• Start a mixed media art piece centered on King of Kings

• Experience the style of creativity taught inside Creative Hearts Studio

This workshop is designed as a starting point—a foundation for a year-long creative faith journey.
