Fall is whispering. Do you hear her?
I heard Fall this morning.
The Wind carried her very gentle whisper.
I can almost hear her footsteps coming our way.
In my imagination, I see her clothed in a beautiful flowing dress with the breeze in her hair.
Change is in the air.
I felt Fall this morning.
It was just a hint of crunch as I stepped on fallen leaves.
I felt her in the breeze. It was just a little taste of relief.
It reminded me of Hope.
I saw Fall this morning.
Summer’s leaves & flowers show evidence of her kiss.
It’s as if they’ve aged overnight. There is a new depth & richness to their hue.
It reminds me of Wisdom.
I think I even smelled a hint of Fall this morning.
Summer’s grass is losing its strong aroma.
It’s being pushed aside by goldenrod, ragweed and their friends.
It reminds me of Change.
And it reminds me of childhood.
Celebrating My Favorite Time of Year - Fall
As a little girl my favorite time of the year was Fall! I’m sure that it is partly because my birthday lands right smack dab in the middle of October, but even if my birthday had been in a different season, I think Fall would have still been my favorite.
I have so many fond memories of growing up in south Alabama and experiencing the Peanut Festival & Parade, hayrides, bonfires, boiled peanuts, cooler weather to play outside longer, fields of cotton and peanuts, old barns and the smell of hay & rich dirt. I can still remember the thrill of climbing as high as I could reach in our old magnolia tree.
Learning Lessons From This Season
As an adult, Fall is still my favorite season and that is saying a lot, because my allergies are at their very worst during this time of year! Fall is such a short season here, but it packs a big meaning for me. It’s a reminder for me to stop and really observe what is happening all around me in nature.
I think nature tells us a story if we just stop, be still, observe and listen. Fall slips in so gently & quietly. If you are not paying attention it will be in full blaze of spectacular beauty before you realize what happened, and then it quickly slips back out to usher in Winter.
I Think of Fall as a "Kind" Season
I think of Fall as such a “kind'' season. It brings much needed relief from the heat and helps us transition and be prepared for the slower & colder days ahead. I believe seasons of nature are in some ways a reflection of the provision & nurturing that Father God offers His children.
Giving Glory to God
I also think all of nature gives glory to its Creator, God. It points us back to Him.
There are so many things I can learn from the seasons in nature and apply to the seasons of my life. Each season has a purpose, each season has a time limit, each season, even the hard & painful ones, has beauty, and each season is controlled by my Father, for my good and His Glory.
I hope you can take some time soon to walk around outside listening to the sounds of Fall. Sit a while and look around you and above you, observing the colors and textures of Fall. Experience the beauty of the changing seasons and of His creation.
Experience the Beauty of Fall
“For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are His also. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.” Psalm 95:3-5
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork” Psalm 19:1
“All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made” John 1:3

I enjoyed the words written about the changing seasons and how that ties in with our seasons of life. I love the John 1:3 verse; but the beautiful photos are my favorite! Such a great job you did, Pam!
