Prayer
Prayer
By Tammy Martin
Prayer is a means of communication with our Heavenly Father. God’s word says “pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), which communicates to us that our Heavenly Father wants a close, intimate relationship with us and that we need him because we are very dependent upon him. I am so grateful that he desires a close relationship with me!
I am so grateful that he is so dependable, since I am so dependent upon him, for everything!
God’s word provides us with so much guidance and encouragement concerning prayer, and we need that help! Even Jesus’ disciples admitted their need for help with prayer:
“Lord, teach us to pray…” (Luke 11:1)
He said to them, “When you pray, say:
‘Father, hallowed by your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.’”
(Luke 11:2-4)

As you P.R.A.Y you can...
P ... Praise and thank God for who he is and what he has done and will do
R ... Request needs for others and yourself
A ... Admit your need for him, Admit your sins to him, and Ask for forgiveness
Y ... Yield, or surrender, your will to his will
God’s word communicates to us that it is important to pray according to his will:
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of him.
(1 John 5:14-15)
“…your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Luke 11:2)

Turning scriptures into prayers is one way to help guide you to pray according to God’s will. I have created a 31-day perpetual scripture prayer guide for you to use to pray for yourself and for your family… and others that God puts on your heart to pray for. You may think of other scriptures or God may direct you to include other scriptures to turn into prayers that relate to your current situation in life.
When God answers our prayers, the answer may be “yes, no, or wait.” Our prayers may not be answered in the time frame we desire or in the way we expected, so it could even appear as if God is not answering our prayers. My prayer for you is that the following Scriptures and links will bring you hope and encouragement as you trust in and wait patiently for God.

The Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. (Romans 15:4b)
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. (Luke 18:1)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
