Meet Joy: Your Little Reminder to Slow Down and Find Joy

Have you ever wished you could press pause on your busy day?

Maybe your to-do list is still waiting, the laundry isn't finished, and there are a dozen little things asking for your attention. You finally find a quiet moment, but instead of resting, you're already thinking about what needs to happen next.

What if you had a little reminder that you don't have to rush through every moment?

Meet Joy, our cheerful little watercolor snail!

Joy is the mascot of the Watercolor Joy Snail Mail Club at Pam Coxwell Designs, and she has an important message for all of us: Not everything needs to be rushed.

A Little Snail With a Big Reminder

There's something fitting about choosing a snail to remind us to slow down.

Snails aren't exactly known for hurrying, are they?

While the world around us seems to move faster every day, Joy reminds us that it's okay to take our time. We can notice the little things, enjoy the process of creating, and give ourselves permission to simply be present.

Joy isn't here to add another task to your day. She's here to remind you that doing something just because it brings you happiness is reason enough.

Sometimes, joy isn't found in accomplishing one more thing. It's found in the quiet moments we allow ourselves to enjoy along the way.

Why We All Need a Little More Joy

As women, we often spend so much time caring for others, managing responsibilities, and making sure everything gets done that our own creative interests get pushed to the bottom of the list.

We tell ourselves we'll paint when things settle down.

We'll try something new when we have more time.

We'll make room for ourselves when everything else is taken care of.

But what if that perfect, unhurried season never quite arrives?

Joy encourages us to start right where we are.

You don't need an entire afternoon, a perfectly organized craft room, or years of watercolor experience. You can begin with a few quiet minutes, a paintbrush, and the willingness to enjoy the moment.

And you don't have to make something perfect for the experience to be worthwhile.

Look for Joy in the Little Things

One of the sweetest things about Joy is that she reminds us to look for the little moments that make an ordinary day feel special.

Maybe it's the first sip of coffee in the morning.

Maybe it's sunlight coming through the window, a favorite Bible verse, or the satisfaction of mixing two colors and discovering something beautiful.

Or maybe it's opening your mailbox and finding a cheerful envelope waiting just for you.

Joy even likes to hide little surprises and creative tips throughout the monthly Watercolor Joy envelope, giving you something new to discover as you paint.

These little moments may seem simple, but they invite us to slow down long enough to appreciate what's right in front of us.

Let Joy Bring a Little Creativity to Your Mailbox

Joy isn't just a cute mascot. She's part of the experience waiting for you in our Watercolor Joy Snail Mail Club.

Once a month, a little envelope arrives with a watercolor project already planned and ready for you to enjoy.

Inside, you'll find a 5-by-7 line-art postcard printed on watercolor paper, a print of Pam's finished painting for inspiration, artist-selected watercolor colors, a watercolor word, and a personal letter filled with creative tips and gentle slow-down prompts.

You'll also have access to a step-by-step painting video if you'd like to paint along with Pam.

No wondering what to create. No pressure to come up with an idea. Just a simple invitation to take a breath, pick up your paintbrush, and enjoy a little creative time.

And if you're new to watercolor, you're welcome here, too! Your sign-up includes Pam's Quick Start Guide to Watercolor, with a video and printable PDF to help you get comfortable with the basics.

A Gentle Reminder Just for You

Here's what Joy would love for you to remember today:

You don't have to earn the right to enjoy a quiet moment.

You don't have to finish every task before you do something creative.

And you don't have to be an experienced artist to discover the happiness that comes from making something with your own hands.

You are allowed to slow down. You are allowed to try something new. You are allowed to make a little room for joy.

So the next time life feels like it's moving a little too quickly, remember our cheerful little snail.

Take it slow. Notice the beauty around you. And paint a little joy.
