#1 A Form of Prayer & Worship

I often use my time lettering scripture as a way to meditate on the Word. I intentionally write each letter slowly, allowing it to sink into my mind and heart. Thinking about what the word means and how it applies to me personally really helps me remember it better.

There’s always a word or several words within a passage that will just jump off the pages at me! I will take those words and emphasize them by writing it larger or making it a different color or putting dashes and lines around it. I’m a very visual learner so each of these little actions helps the Word of God penetrate deeper into my heart and mind’s memory.

Perfectionism is not invited to these sessions! Perfectionism will totally quench the flow and defeat the purpose, which is to focus on God and His Word! Sometimes I accidentally misspell a word, or run out of room on the paper. That’s ok! I’m not doing this for other people...it’s an act of worship of the Lord and He’s more concerned about my heart than my spelling!

After I finish writing the verse, I will often take those verses and turn them into a prayer back to my Father. I encourage you to try it. I often hear people say they don’t know what to pray. When I began lettering verses & turning them into prayers many years ago, I really believe it deepened my faith in God and improved my prayer life.  It’s a precious and very meaningful time, I encourage you to give it a try.

#2 Stress Relief

Yes, lettering Bible verses can actually help alleviate stress!  It’s the Off and On principle. When you can get your mind OFF of what’s happening around you and turn your focus ON to the Truth of God’s Word, the stress that is within will evaporate and be replaced with peace.

This is a precious gift to believers! When I begin to slowly start writing those letters to form words, it captures my attention and gets it back where it needs to be!  It renews my mind which in turn helps my attitude. Since I can’t focus on Truth and fear at the same time, and fear is at the root of stress, I try to make time often to letter Bible Verses, notes from my devotional books, worship songs, the Names of God and even sermon notes.

#3 DIY Home Decor and Gifts

What began as a form of Prayer, Worship and Stress Relief can all end up becoming a gift item or home decor! Did you know that when I started my business 20 years ago, I added Bible verses to almost everything I painted.

I did that because I so desperately needed those Truth filled reminders and felt like there were probably other people that felt the same way. So I began lettering as a way to put those Bible verses on home decor for myself! I needed those constant reminders on index cards that I put in the bathroom, kitchen and even the car! Then I began making bigger pieces to hang on the wall, or put on my desk, put on the mailbox, clay pots, etc..

You have been a great blessing to me in my life. I learn so much from all your products. I had rather have something from you to send to a friend or for myself than anything else. Thanks for being my friend. God bless you and your family.

Thank you for your encouragement. It’s been a season full of challenges and I write scripture on index cards ( but not as pretty as your writing!) God bless and protect you as you courageously keep God first in all you do
